With a little over 2 months left in the season the NL Central appears to be headed for a four team race. Here is your handy cheat sheet for the teams and their corresponding cities. You decide who has the advantage. Up next Milwaukee.
Part 1, Pittsburg(h)
Part 2, Cincinnati
Part 3, St. Louis
At last we get to the Brewers and Milwaukee.
Yes I write this with Brewer-colored glasses (and naturally those glasses are full of beer), this is a Brewers blog, but I'll try to keep it neutral.....ok that isn't happening
Milwaukee Brewers
- Franchise began in 1969 as the Seattle Pilots
- Realized Seattle sucked and moved to Milwaukee in 1970
- Realized Pilots is a stupid name and changed it to Brewers
- Still not as stupid as Alleghenys
- Prior to the Seattle relocation Major League Baseball was played for one season in 1901
- 48-89
- Ken Macha may or may not have managed that team
- Stunk so bad they were forced to move to St. Louis
- Changed their name to the Browns because St. Louis has no relevant connection to beer
- Not to be confused with the 1883-1898 St. Louis Browns, they changed to
the Perfectosthe Cardinals - Moved to Baltimore in 1954 and became the current day Orioles
- Browns is a stupid name
- Are you taking notes Cleveland
- Played 1953-1965 as the Milwaukee Braves
- Won the World Series in 1957
- Lew Burdette + Warren Spahn > Don Larsen + Whitey Ford
- Also involved: Hank Aaron & Mickey Mantle
- Perhaps you've heard of them
- Tailgate like they're at a football game
- This is not normal??
- Robin Yount won MVP at SS in 1982 and CF in 1989
- First SS to lead the AL in slugging in 1982
- That 1982 season
- Prior to 2008 pretty much the only relevant season
- Paul Molitor had a 39 game hitting streak
- Ended with him on deck
- AL East Champs
- Tied with the Orioles going into the last game of the year
- won 10-2
- Faced the Angels in the ALCS
- Lost the first 2
- Won the next 3 to advance to the World Series
- Played the
BrownsCardinals in the World Series - Molitor had a Series record 5 hits in game 1
- Split the first 4 games 2-2
- Won game 5 to take a 3-2 lead back to St. Louis for game 6
- Dropped games 6 and 7 devastating a 6 year old Brewers fan
- That would be me
- 1987
- Won 13 straight to start the season
- That Easter game
Yeah that happened.
- 1987-2007
- Awful
- 2002
- 56-106
- wow
- Jose Hernandez was most valuable player
- Strikeouts are apparently valuable
- 2008
- Ned Yost
- Fired with 12 games left in the season
- Replaced by Dale Sveum
- Both were doomed because CC Sabathia couldn't pitch every day
- Won the Wild Card

Whew, finally made it through that one. Apologies for anyone that's been waiting for the final installment of this epic 4-parter (both of you). These took forever to research especially this one actually having knowledge of the city of Milwaukee going in I couldn't just pick things/people I've heard of.
Also I'm not exactly getting paid here so I had no real motivation to finish this.
Thanks to those of you that read all of these and thanks to Brew Crew Ball helping get them to people not on my Facebook or Twitter.
Now that this is finished I can get back to making fun of Yuni and McGehee.
What McGehee had 3 HR's today and Yuni has actually been hitting?? I might be running out of material.
