As GM and manager this was bound to happen eventually, and it only took a week and an error that costs the team a win versus the Cubs. Yuni is no more, traded to....
Traded 29-year-old shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt and 28-year-old starting pitcher Eduardo Villafane to the Philadelphia Phillies, getting 33-year-old starting pitcher Roy Oswalt, 25-year-old reliever Antonio Bastardo and 34-year-old reliever Brad Lidge in return.
Bittersweet goodbye to Villafane who did well in his 1 start but Oswalt should be an upgrade as well as 2 veteran bullpen arms. I'm happy with the deal despite ownership thinking we should have gotten more. This leaves 40 year old Craig Counsell and newly called up Jonathan Weisheit to man SS for the time being, we'll see how well this works and whether another trade might need to be made. In the meantime celebrate he gone.
