Leaving Home

Could we have asked for a better homestand than 8-1?? Ok, technically 9-0 would have been better but I'm more than happy with 8-1 and 21-7 at home for the season, most home wins in MLB.

A baseball season is 162 games, unfortunately only 81 of those games are going to be played at Miller Park. Now they have to try and win some games in Cincinnati and Florida. Road record so far this year: 8-17. Ouch. That is tied with Houston and only better than Kansas City's 6-16. Neither of those teams are making the playoffs and the Brewers are going to have to get out of that company if they are going to make the playoffs. Unless of course they can play a full season of .750 at home, that would mean 61-20 and yeah I don't see that happening.

Yes let's enjoy that 8-1 homestand but it won't mean much if it is followed up by a 1-5 road trip, let's hope that isn't the case.

screw you MLB

dear Major League Baseball: your TV policies are complete garbage.

I'm sitting here watching a 13-1 Rockies beatdown of the Cardinals (not that I'm not enjoying that) while several other games that are kind of interesting are going on. One had a no-hitter into the 7th....or so I've heard.

I'd be happy to purchase MLB.tv but apparently the Cubs, White Sox, Brewers, Twins, Cardinals, and Royals are considered local teams here and are subject to blackout. How are any of those local to Iowa?? I live 4 hours from any MLB stadium.

ooh, the Cardinals have cut it to 13-4, they might come back.

Nope 15-4, real nail biter here in Colorado stay tuned

off topic: soccer!!

Yes I'm posting another that has nothing to do with the Brewers....again, my blog my rules

I watched one of the biggest sports events of the year this afternoon as my favorite (for over a year now!!) footballers Barcelona bashed those commies ManU 3-1. Lionel Messi is better than you at everything, step back and accept it.

I'm not a huge soccer fan but the European game has totally caught my interest. Not just Messi and his total awesomeness (hello man crush #whatever).

European soccer does it right, win you get to play in the Champions League....lose you get sent to AAA. Would the Royals be run better if they had to play in the PCL when they lose 100 games

how big was that win

Coming into the season would you expect a May 24th game against the Nationals game to be important?? Probably not.

Narveson gave up 6 and didn't make it out of the 4th. Braun gets ejected. Down 6-2 did you really think this team would comeback from that??

Enter Mitre, McClendon, Boggs, and Lucroy. 5+ solid (9th not so much, but still) innings from the bullpen and an offense that refused to pack it in sans Braun and with Gomez instead.

Hart has 4 HR's in 2 days, Lucroy is hitting .333. Add in the big 4 (McGehee arguable at this point) and that is 6 out of 9 spots in the lineup that are putting up offense right now.

5 in a row, 13-4 in their last 17. This team has momentum and is gaining steam. Yes it was a May game against a bad team, they could have easily blown it off. Come talk to me in September when it is a 1 or 2 game division race and I'll remind you how important this game was.

This is more like it

first 3 home run game since Geoff Jenkins

first 7 RBI game since Damian Miller (yes that really happened)

2 things neither Braun nor Fielder have yet to do in their careers Corey Hart did tonight as the Brewers finally put together solid hitting to go along with the pitching easily taking care of a Nationals team they had no business getting swept by last month.

Yovani wins his 4th straight. 12-4 since the 7 game losing streak. This is what we expected coming into the season, and the reason this blog exists. Big Mo is starting to roll, hopefully with 5 more on the homestand we can start to make a move toward the division lead.

what the heck??

ok so Zach Braddock's rehab is set back because of the familiar combination of sleep disorder and cracked fingernail and Erick Almonte can't stop taking balls off the face.

500

I wasn't sure it would happen today but we SURVIVED THE RAPTURE made it back to .500 at 23-23. It has been a rough 3 weeks since we last saw .500: inconsistent offense, bad defense, bad base running, but the most important thing which will keep us in games when the hitting isn't there....pitching.

Yes we all love Prince, Braun, Rickie, et al but where would this team be without Marcum and Narveson. Now if we could just get that back end of the rotation going, yeah I'm looking at you Greinke and Gallardo. In the words of Norm McDonald, wait what??

9-3 in their last 12 and 7 more in this homestand I like where the Brewers are sitting.

off topic: seriously how much of a disappointment was that rapture

off topic: RIP Macho Man

I never planned on using this for anything but Brewers stuff but hey: my blog my rules.

As first reported here you've more than likely heard an iconic figure from my youth Randy "Macho Man" Savage had a heart attack while driving and lost a battle with a tree

For anyone that grew up in the 80's and watched wrestling you already know he was one of the best ever. I'd post clips but I'm still blogging mobile so I'll leave you in the more than capable hands of Warming Glow and BHGP

At least he'll be reunited with Miss Elizabeth and beat the shit out of Lex Luger, he's dead too right?? right??

whatever we're all dead tomorrow apparently anyway...who wants to get drunk and watch the Rapture?? OHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!

superstitions and 3rd string catchers

still blogging via phone as I contemplate what to do with my computer issues so I'm a tad limited since my phone can't do 8 internet tabs at once.....loser, anyone want to buy a slightly used computer?? I hear Windows XP is the next big thing.

ok 4 game winning streak snapped by the Brewers tonight, not a huge deal other than .500 would have been a nice number to get to. It also means I can stop wearing this shirt that I have worn for 5 games now. I changed (and bathed) a few times since Friday but I felt compelled to stick with the shirt as long as they kept winning. For those of you aren't superstitious and think I'm nuts normally I'm the first one to agree with you, that was until the Packers playoff season this year. Their first playoff game I had a Brewers shirt on not thinking they were even gonna win there so I kind of lazily just kept it on. Super Bowl championship later, all while I sat on my couch in a Brewers shirt, you're welcome Wisconsin....ok, you're welcome world!! Yeah forgive me if I'm a tad superstitious from now on.

In actual baseball news Stetter goes to the DL and Rivera called up so that's 3 catchers on the roster and 0 LHP in the bullpen. Ok we're back to 5 bench players but they're Kotsay Counsell Nieves Rivera and Boggs....ouch

slightly off topic-my computer might be dead

My computer is ridiculously old. It doesn't accept my keyboard or my keyboard refuses to acknowledge my Apple IIe. As a result I'm writing this from my phone. I think the 5.25" drive is still intact but it doesn't really matter since I left my copy of Oregon Trail in the sun for a couple minutes and it appears to be warped. Bright side: you are all safe from typhoid for the immediate future, celebrate accordingly.

oh yeah, Brewers won

time to panic yet??

5 losses in a row. 2 today. Our savior Greinke blew in his first start. We got frickin 1 hit by Tim Hudson (bonus kick in the balls I don't think he is on any of my fantasy teams unlike no-hit Liriano). Bonus points for 3 errors.

Yeah you didn't expect Greinke to be lights out today, he's basically still in NBA training camp spring training but geez.

Hopefully this is rock bottom and this team gets it together.

April in 11

I spent the afternoon driving back from Wisconsin and listening to the Brewers get waxed by Nolan Ryan Bud Norris.. During the loss I started thinking about what has happened with this team so far this year.

13-14 is not terrible but not exactly where the Brewers wanted to be on May 1. But why??
