A day at the ball park

We take a break from our regularly scheduled Yuni bashing for actual baseball coverage.  I made my annual trek to Miller Park for the first half finale for the Brewers and Reds on Sunday.  It started off poorly with Randy Wolf giving up a run in the first without giving up a hit.  Then it was back and forth runs for the next couple innings before things calmed down and Wolf and his counterpart Dontrelle Willis settled in for a few scoreless innings and a lot of LOB's (8 for each team) and a lot of walks (10 plus 2 HBP).  Then the 9th happened.  I was prepared to go into the break on a loss either tied or a game back of STL and a respectable split with nemesis Reds.

Oh no.  The left-handed bats that sat on the bench all game while Willis and Aroldis Chapman took care of their right-handed teammates came out versus our old buddy Francisco Cordero and took care of business once again.  The fact that Cordero pitched Saturday night with a 5 run lead might have been an issue.  Who could have predicted that?? oh yeah, this guy.

Dusty sure knows how to work pitchers doesn't he??

After Yuni grounds out (no Yuni bashing, just reporting) T-Plush gets a hit and steals 2nd. Kottaras walks, Kotsay drives one up the middle to score Morgan.

OK worst case we're going extra with not a whole lot left for the Brewers in the bullpen. (Cody Scarpetta was there??) Weeks gets plunked to load the bases for captain clutch Carlos Gomez no check that it's the always dangerous err, .170 hitting Craig Counsell.

2-2 count

ok it was only a sac fly but it was a big win and an incredible atmosphere at Miller Park.

I may or may not make it back for another game this season but if I don't I ended up being at one of the better ones that will happen all year.

Great day at Miller Park despite the sunburn I had to drive back to Iowa with.  It was well worth it.

I'll have another post with a bunch of stupid pictures I took a little later.

Go Brewers!!
